Introducing Ger Sasser and a new leadership series

After over 50 episodes of the Dose of Today, I took a break from posting media to help people directly and to figure out where I wanted to explore next. After much consideration, my heart was impressed to highlight the wonderful leaders we have in our community.

We have an abundance of great people here in Ashland, Kentucky, and we are often overlooked or viewed as inferior. Additionally, amongst our great people are great leaders: unsung heroes who are doing great things with what they have to improve the lives of others.

So I am leveraging my talents, and learning new ones, to create a series of interviews. In these interviews, I am going to sit down with local leaders and explore points in their life that made them who they are. We’ll explore their thoughts on life and leadership and try to understand the lessons they learned over the years and how it can apply more generally to all of us.

For this first interview, I chose my friend in whom I have much respect as a person and a leader. When I told him what I wanted to do, he only responded with, “when do you want to do it?” To Ger: thank you, my friend.

The production quality is not quite where I want it to be, and the first couple of minutes of the interview build slow, but I am content to start where I am and improve. You can choose to watch part one of the interview in two different ways: as a 30-minute piece or as a series of segments. I have included both below. I hope you enjoy it!

2019.06.25 DoT: Hanlon’s Razor

My good friend Johnny Reb recently shared a post from the Daily Stoic that spoke about Hanlon’s Razor. This is a principle that I feel is critical to universal success.

2019.06.24 DoT: What others think

Inspired by greatness this last weekend, I was reminded of a quote by Olin Miller from 1936 that you have likely heard attributed to others. More inside the video.

2019.06.06 Punches to the Face!

What if I told you that getting punched in the face can be a very good thing…. But only if you are prepared to react to it correctly. More in today’s DoT.

2019.06.05 DoT: Opportunities

For a lot of us, new opportunities can be very intimidating. They often call on us to go out of our comfort zone and press into something new. We discuss why this is good, and more.

2019.06.04 DoT: Show up, don’t “show-up”

No matter how great the company you keep and work with, you will always hove people who leech off the success of others. The question is, what are you going to do about it?

2019.06.03 DoT: Rome wasn’t built in a day

Rome wasn’t built in a day. Classic saying. But to me, this saying invokes an anti-pattern. A quote that should embody patience and perseverance, is ofter ill-used as a deterrent for people to reach for the stars. I elaborate more in today’s Dose of Today.
